Crafting the Vision of Away That Night
The journey of Away That Night began with a solid script I did to anchor the story with emotional depth. But first, we had to make a trailer for it.
The trailer narrative was built more as an abstract visual journey - choosing instead to lean on the LA's gritty atmosphere - rather than a structured one. We concepted the characters with cinematography in mind, knowing we would not reveal them fully in this teaser. We opted for a more illustrative look when it comes to textures, accentuating proportions equally. Finally, the world came to life with a full 3D build, rendered in a hybrid realistic/painterly style and shaped with a cinematic eye to immerse the audience completely. Fred's strength is in his realistic lightings and we wanted to preserve that.
